Wyandotte Early Childhood
Wyandotte Public Schools strongly believes in the importance of providing our children with
high quality, developmentally appropriate, learning environments to give all students the very
best start at learning. All of our classrooms implement the HighScope Infant & Toddler or HighScope Preschool Curriculum, placing an emphasis on active participatory learning. Children's interests and choices are the foundation of our classrooms, as our staff support children by playing an active, and intentional, role in guiding and extending student learning. Our Early Childhood Programs provide a daily balance of developmentally appropriate learning, while also incorporating curriculum elements of our district's Kindergarten classrooms. To meet the diverse needs of Wyandotte families, and the surrounding community, several different early childhood programs are offered throughout our school district:
Roosevelt Child Development Center: Based within Roosevelt High School, the Roosevelt Child Development Center is a licensed facility servicing children from the age of 2 weeks-old until 5 years-old. The Roosevelt Child Development Center is a tuition-based program that allows families to determine the unique schedule that will meet their family's needs.
Tuition Based Preschool: In addition to the Roosevelt Child Development Center, a Tuition Based 3 Year-Old & 4 Year-Old Preschool Program is offered within our school district's elementary schools. Three year-old students attend school on Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday from 8:30 - 10:30 at Washington Elementary School. Four year old students attend school Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 - 11:00 (Monroe Elementary School) or 11:45-2:45 (Washington Elementary School).
Free 4 Year-Old Preschool: Wyandotte Public Schools is proud to participate in a grant program from the State of Michigan to provide 4 year-old preschool at no cost for qualifying families. The Great Start Readiness (GSRP) Program offers both a full-day option (based at Garfield Elementary School) and a half-day option (based at Washington Elementary School and Monroe Elementary School). Students attend preschool Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 - 3:00 (full-day classroom) or from either 8:00 - 11:00 or 11:45-2:45 (half-day classrooms). Please view the "GSRP: Free Preschool" link for information on whether your family may qualify for this program.
