Ac-kid-emic spotlight - The News Herald

Travis Rodery, 11, of Wyandotte is the ac-kid-emic pupil of the week.

He was nominated by Mark Thorington, his sixth-grade teacher at Taft Elementary School of Wyandotte.

Travis is the son of Walt and Sharon Rodery and the brother of Heather.

His favorite subject is social studies, he said, "because I enjoy learning about other countries' history and about my own country's history."

He is on the honor roll and principal's list, and participates in football, baseball and basketball.

Travis would like to "go to college and try to make it in the baseball majors," he said.  If that doesn't happy, he plans to attend law school instead.

As the student of the week, he'll receive a four-pack of movie passes to any MJR Theater or Southgate Cinema 20 and a free class session at the Southgate YMCA Fitness Center.
