Who she is: Sydney Jane Butkin, 9, is in the fourth grade at Taft Elementary in Wyandotte.
Background: Her parents are Ted and Jane Butkin of Wyandotte. Her sister, Ellen, is 6.
Why nominated: Sydney is a great student who loves to read and sets a good example for classmates and other Taft students. Sydney is always willing to help others. She is a great listener and friend.
She says: "My goal in school is to go to college and get a good job. I participate in gym and art because I am athletic and artistic."
