Preschool Programs

The Wyandotte Public Schools have several preschool opportunities for children. Children with special needs may qualify for specialized educational programs from infancy. At age 3 and 4 the Head Start Program is available for students who qualify for the program. The Head Start Program is designed for children from lower income families. For more information please contact Head Start at (734) 283-8344. The Smart Start Program serves families with children of 4 years of age. TOTE: Younger children with special needs may seek assistance from the T.O.T.E. (Teach Our Tots Early) program. These children qualify for special education services under a variety of categories. For more information regarding this early intervention program, call the TOTE program at (734) 783-3322.

Early Childhood Developmental Delay (E.C.D.D.) Program was designed to meet the individual needs of a variety of children aged 3-5 years of age. Students must meet the eligibility requirements for special education services for this program. Students may have significant delays in the speech and language area or cognitive delays. The curriculum is designed to provide activities to improve each child’s speech and language, motor, and thinking skills.
