ac-kid-emic spotlight - The News Herald February 5, 2006

Molly Byrum, 7, of Wyandotte is the ac-kid-emic spotlight pupil of the week.

She was nominated by Tiffany Tittle, her teacher in the mixed class of first and second graders she attends at McKinley Elementary School of Wyandotte.  Molly is the daughter of Nancy and Michael Byrum and the sister of Shannon.  The family has a rabbit named Smudge, a turtle named Puddles, three birds and a fish.

"Math is my favorite subject because it is challenging, fun, and I like my math journal because of the thermometers I get to color, " Molly said.  She does very well in school, and also plays hockey, and participates in gymnastics and bowling.

She has many goals for the future, and hasn't quite narrowed down one particular career path yet.  "When I grow up, I want to be a hockey player, a dog trainer or a model," Molly said.

As the student of the week, she'll receive a four-pack of movie passes to any MJR Theatre or Southgate Cinema 20 and a free class session at the Southgate YMCA Fitness Center.
