ac-kid-emic spotlight - The News Herald 2004/2005
John Calhoun, 9, of Wyandotte is the ac-kid-emic spotlight pupil of the week.
He was nominated by Diane Davis, his fourth grade teacher at Taft Elementary School of Wyandotte.
John is the son of John and Shironne Calhoun, and the brother of Matt. He also has a dog named Brittany.
He enjoys math and science more than any other subjects, he said.
"I like math because I like adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing," John said. "I also like science because I enjoy doing experiments."
Last year during hockey camp, John won a scholarship for writing an essay about teens who drop out of high school.
He enjoys hockey, baseball, tennis, swimming and playing chess.
What's in the future for John? "I want to attend the University of Michigan and play hockey and I want to be a pharmacist," he said.
As the student of the week, John will receive a four-pack of movie passes to any MJR Theatre or Southgate Cinema 20 and a free class session at the Southgate YMCA Fitness Center.
Congratulations, John. Keep up the good work.
