She was nominated by her first- and second-grade teacher, Tiffany Tittle, at McKinley Elementary School in Wyandotte.

Jessica is the daughter of Doug and Karen Golema, and wants to be a teacher like her mom.

The second-grader does well in all her subjects, but particularly likes writing and spelling, she said.

Jessica also goes to dance classes at Beverly Morrison Studios, where she studies tap, ballet, acrobatics and more.

She's an active Brownie and also sings with her church, First United Methodist of Wyandotte.

As the student of the week, Jessica will receive a four-pack of movie passes to any MJR Theater or Southgate Cinema 20 and a free class session of her choice at the new Southgate YMCA Fitness Center.
