Dalan Bulchak, 8, of Wyandotte is the ac-kid-emic spotlight pupil of the week.

He was nominated by his third-grade teacher, Estelle Bresnahan, at Jefferson Elementary School of Wyandotte.

Dalan is the son of David and Judean Bulchak, and the brother of Autumn, 5, and Lynn, 19. He has a dog named Bear.

His favorite subject is science, the pupil said, because he "likes to do a lot of experiments."

He is proficient in all his subjects, his teacher said, and likes to participate in hockey, karate and Cub Scouts when he's not at school.

Dalan would like to be an astronomer someday, he said.

"I want to study space and the stars," he said.

As the student of the week, Dalan will receive a four-pack of movie passes to any MJR Theater or Southgate Cinema 20 and a free class session at the Southgate YMCA Fitness Center.

Congratulations, Dalan. Keep up the good work.
