Dawn Cramton, Taft Elementary School

Who she is: Dawn Cramton teaches third grade at Taft Elementary School in Wyandotte.

Background: Cramton has taught at the school since 1992. She received her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a master's degree from Eastern Michigan University.

Why nominated: Cramton is a caring teacher who is loved by students and parents, and respected by staff. She knows how to fine-tune the curriculum, identifies and uses excellent teaching strategies, motivates her students, and uses technology whenever possible. Parents say their children tell them they want to be "just like Mrs. Cramton." She shows leadership as a member of the District NCA School Improvement Team .

She says: "My overall goal each day is to treat each child as if he or she were my own."
