Who she is: Brook Southwell, 9, is in the fourth grade at Taft Elementary in Wyandotte.
Background: Her parents are Paula Loturco and Michael Southwell of Wyandotte. Her sister is Bobbie LaFreniere, 18.
Why nominated: Brook is an excellent worker and gives her best. She listens and does her work independently. She is a kind and caring friend to her classmates. She shows her leadership skills quietly.
She says: "I love math and social studies and I'd like to thank Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Struthers for all their help."
