Wayne Students of the week - Bridget Reidy, Garfield Elementary School

Who she is: Bridget Reidy, 12, is a sixth-grader at Garfield Elementary School in Wyandotte.

Background: Bridget is the daughter of Jim and Marcia Reidy of Wyandotte. She has four sisters: Nora, Molly, Margaret and Jamie.

Why nominated: Bridget is an exemplary student. She has a 3.5 grade-point average and consistently is on the honor roll. Her contributions to the school and the community are exceptional. She volunteered Christmas Eve at the All Saints soup kitchen, where 297 homeless people were served. She has been named Safety of the Week for her dedication and commitment to the welfare of her schoolmates.

She says: “I like school. I have had great teachers that make me want to do my best. I like the responsibilities I’m given when I prove I can handle it.”
